That crazy little thing called flood

Driving in the rain can be quite fun. Relaxing, even. That is until you hit the end of the road - in waist-deep water, which has slowly seeped inside your vehicle before you even fully comprehend what's happening.

Before monsoon season starts, you can prep your Land Rover to avoid this scenario by, let's say, installing a lift kit that'll keep you high and dry, or by spraying a protective coating to shield your vehicle from flood water.

Suspension lift kits such as Britpart's Super Gaz provides your vehicle additional clearance that will allow your vehicle to places where stock vehicles couldn't - such as off road and, of course, flooded areas.

But then again, despite these measures, dealing with something as unpredictable as weather means everything can go south, anytime.

If the worst happens, here are 3 steps you can take to get your interior back to its original glory ... and odor.

STEP 1. Get the water out.
Get the water out using a wet/dry vac. You can either borrow, rent, or buy. If you couldn't borrow one, buy. In a flood-prone country such as ours, its a pretty good, darn investment.

STEP 2. Use airflow to clear out remaining moisture.
Position a fan, or two, beside your "open" vehicle so that it blows across the car from one side to the other. Leave the fans running for at least a day. This should thoroughly dry out any moisture.

STEP 3. Keep the mold out
Remember, a mold-contaminated carpet is a health hazard. Despite doing steps 1 and 2, there’s still a chance that lingering moisture could cause mold growth in the future .To address this potential problem, get yourself some moisture-absorbent products such as baking soda which eliminates molds as well as prevent unpleasant odors from forming.
