Think before you pull

1. ALWAYS WEAR GLOVES when handling or rewinding the wire to avoid being cut or injured by burrs and slivers from broken strands.

2. SECURE YOUR VEHICLE, and the item you're moving before you start pulling. Use a wheel choke on a vehicle parked on an incline.

3. GIVE ALLOWANCE
Make sure that there are at least five (5) complete turns of rope left on the drum before you start pulling.

4. KEEP YOUR HANDS, AND FINGERS, TO YOURSELF when reeling in, especially during the last few feet. You could lose a digit if your finger gets trapped in the hook or rope. NEVER guide the wire rope under tension into the drum with your bare hand.

5. NEVER HOOK THE WIRE ROPE BACK TO ITSELF as this creates strain which may break individual strands. If that happens, the entire wire rope may weaken.

6. KEEP PULLING DURATION SHORT
The winch is designed for intermittent use and must NOT be used continuously for long periods of time. Do not pull for more than one minute if you're pulling an item that weighs as much* as the rated load. If the motor becomes too hot to touch, stop. Let it cool off for a few minutes. If the motor stalls, cut off the power immediately.

7. NEVER OVERLOAD*
Always use the winch at its rated capacity for better performance ... AND for your safety as well.

8. AVOID WINCHING FROM EXTREME ANGLES as this will cause the rope to pile up at one end of the drum. Best scenario would be to pull in a straight line.

9. ALWAYS BE ALERT and watch what you're doing at all times. Do not use this winch when you are tired, stressed, or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.

10. DO NOT MOVE YOUR VEHICLE WHEN WIRE ROPE IS EXTENDED to pull the load. Motion from moving your vehicle can cause the wire/rope to snap.

11. ENSURE WINCH IS PROPERLY SECURED TO VEHICLE and that it can withstand rated load capacity of the winch.

12. USE PROPER COUPLINGS ONLY when connecting the winch cable to the load. Always.

13. LIFT (ONLY) HORIZONTALLY
Never lift items vertically as winches are designed for horizontal use only. Never lift people nor hoist loads OVER people.

14. AVOID INAPPROPRIATE ATTACHMENTS to extend the length of the winch cable.

15. TURN OFF when not in use.

Finally, always use common sense when operating any winch. Safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of personal injury and damage to the winch.
